Hyderabad: It was all hope and good news on Wednesday for the State’s battle against the coronavirus, with the country’s youngest Covid-19 patient, who had contracted the virus when he was just 20 days old, being discharged and just seven new cases and no deaths being reported.
Health Minister E Rajender said it was overwhelming to announce that a baby boy of Mahabubnagar district with Covid-19 was cured and discharged from Gandhi Hospital. The baby had got the infection from his father. He recovered in 25 days and is probably the youngest person in the country to have got the infection and recovered successfully, he said.
On the other hand, Telangana continued to witness a steady drop in new cases with only seven new ones reported on Wednesday, taking the tally to 1,016. A total of 25 more patients, including 13 children, were discharged.
Currently, 10 of the patients admitted at the hospital were being treated in the ICU. One of them was on a ventilator and two were undergoing dialysis. The other patients include one with oral cancer, one with cancer of lymphoma, another with pancreatic ailment and four with cardiac-related issues. There are currently 582 active cases, while the number of patients discharged till Wednesday is 409.
The official bulletin said there were 11 districts now with zero active cases. They were Siddipet, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Narayanpet, Wanaparthy, Peddapally, Warangal (Rural), Bhadradri, Nagarkurnool, Mulugu and Yadadri.
