Sangareddy: A woman abandoned her ailing infant baby girl at the Mother and Child Care Hospital (MCH) at Sangareddy Government Hospital on Saturday evening.

Since the infant was suffering from various birth-related health problems, the woman identified as Rajeshwari, a resident of Lakdaram village of Patancheru mandal came to the hospital on Saturday. The doctors referred the case to Niloufer Hospital, but the woman, who could not even afford to take her baby to Hyderabad, reportedly abandoned the infant in the bushes on the premises of MCH.

As the infant was crying, the kin of other patients at the hospital informed the hospital staff. They immediately shifted the girl to the Intensive Care Unit. After going through the CCTV footage, the staff identified the mother.

Meanwhile, the police are trying to get the mother back. The doctor at the hospital said the baby, just a month old, was suffering from low birth weight. Even a month after her birth, her weight was only 1,400 grams. Apart from this, the infant was also suffering from various birth-related ailments.
