Injured leopard recovering well: Zoo officials

The condition of the four-year-old feline was stable, although the leopard would have to stay in the zoo for a little longer and under the observation of zoo veterinary team.

Hyderabad: The female leopard, which was injured in an accident two-days ago in Nizamabad district while crossing a railway line, is healthy and doing well at Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad.

The zoo authorities in a press release on Friday said that the paw and tail injuries of the leopard were being treated and she was under constant observation.

As of now the animal was not able to stand due to probable paralysis. The zoo officials said leopard would have to stay in the zoo for a little longer and under the observation of zoo veterinary team.

Drawing from their experience in rescuing and treating wild animals from difficult situations, the team was able to revive the female leopard, a press release said adding the zoo was well equipped with rescue team, equipment for physical as well as chemical restraint of the wildlife and the rescue team includes the veterinarians, animal keepers, forest officials and helpers.
