Taking a cue from films like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and The Hangover series, pre-wedding trips are the in-thing now. Gone are the days when bachelor or bachelorette parties meant just one evening of cocktails.
The gen next seems to rather prefer a short getaway with their closest pals before embarking on matrimony. Thought there is a lot of variety in India; people still choose travelling abroad over domestic holiday.
Why this trend?
It is simple. Instead of spending an exorbitant sum on just one party, it is wiser to see and experience a new place. That too, with friends along, this is definitely a more-fun choice.
Thanks to the ease of accessibility to international destinations, it doesn’t take much effort to plan a trip. Also, with traveling picking up as a leisure activity, people don’t want to leave any opportunity to see a new place.
Apart from this, Harmeet Kaur, managing partner of MeetPal Travels, has a few inputs to share. She says, “There are restrictions on beef, pork and alcohol here. Especially when it comes to girls, they want to be able to pick a beer from a mart and just chill on the street. So keeping all these in mind, youngsters want to go to places where they don’t have to stress about all this.”
You obviously want to experience something different from what your city or country offers. So, all-night partying places like Bali and Bangkok, casino destinations like Las Vegas and Macau, or peaceful getaways like Vietnam and Switzerland, you choose the theme of the trip and truly enjoy the time before the busy wedding schedule.
In this regard, Harmeet says, “For holidays, people have different requirements. For instance, some prefer calm and serene places, others want value for money and some are inspired by Bollywood. Also, safety is of paramount importance, especially when it’s an all-girls trip. So, this is a key aspect while zeroing in on a place.”
