Mahabubabad: The Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) ‘Space on Wheels,’ a mobile exhibition bus will tour the district taking the ISRO story to schoolchildren.
The bus exhibition will be flagged off at Government High School, Mahabubabad on Tuesday. It will tour the district on Tuesday and Wednesday covering Mahabubabad, Kuravai, Dornakal, Maripeda, Danthlapally and Thorrur mandals in the district.
The ISRO bus will take India’s space story to children aboard a bus to get them acquainted with the thrilling saga of the Indian space programme.
“The bus sports scale models of ISRO launch vehicles and spacecraft so that students can easily grasp the scientific principles behind them. There are facilities to screen short films on the space theme,” Dr V Gurunadha Rao, science communicator, said.
“Space Museum on Wheel” showcases models of launch vehicles (SLV, ASLV, PSLV, GSLV), Satellites (polar and geostationary), Vikash Engine, Cryo stage, RLV-RD, NAVIC, ISRO Extra Planetary Missions etc. “Some of the models are self-explanatory using interactive command base software,” Rao added.
The bus is one of six arranged by ISRO as part of the celebrations marking the birth centenary of Vikram Sarabhai, the father of the Indian space programme.
