Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted to probe the data theft case, would investigate another case related to illegal access to Aadhaar data of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh by the IT Grids (India) Private Limited Company for Telugu Desam Party’s Seva Mitra app.
Based on a complaint lodged by Aadhaar Deputy Director T Bhavani Prasad, the Madhapur police booked a case under Sections 37, 38(a), 38(b), 38(g), 40, 42, 44 of Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016.
The case was transferred to the SIT. Meanwhile, the IT Grids Company CEO Dakavaram Ashok continues to evade the police dragnet despite three notices issued to him in connection with data theft case registered against him.
He was supposed to appear before the SIT on March 13. However, Ashok did not turn up prompting the police issue a public notice in newspapers on March 18, asking him to appear before the investigating officer (IO) at Goshamahal police stadium in three days.
The SIT booked a case against Ashok under Sections 120B (Criminal conspiracy), 379 (Theft), 420 (Cheating), 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of IPC, along with Sections 66 (B) and 72 of IT Act.
The SIT officials questioned four employees of IT Grids and collected information about Ashok. Instructions were issued to them to appear before the SIT as and when they receive summons from it.
