Hyderabad: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy urged NRIs from Telangana to support the State government in development works by setting up industries and creating employment opportunities in rural areas. He wanted them to establish industries that can make best use of skills of rural people who were changing their occupation to meet global needs.
Speaking at the meeting of Charlotte chapter of America Telangana Association (ATA) in North Carolina in USA, Jagadish Reddy said despite being the youngest State of India, Telangana had recorded a growth rate of 17 per cent becoming a role model for the rest of the States.
“Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is setting new standards in governance by taking up welfare and development programmes with equal priority to all sectors. Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya and irrigation projects like Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme have been attracting experts, officials and Ministers from various State governments which are keen to replicate our schemes in their respective States,” he added.
The Minister termed Telangana as an amalgamation of rich culture and tradition of 3,500 different communities and tribes which have important place in the State’s history. He appreciated the Telangana NRIs who were celebrating Telangana festivals like Bathukamma in foreign countries. He urged them to give back to their native villages by setting up industries and creating employment opportunities besides taking part in development activities.
