Eluru: The YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy promised Rs 75,000 crore, at the rate of Rs 15,000 crore every year if his party is voted to power.
Announcing the BC Declaration of his party at the ‘BC Garjana’ attended by thousands of people on Sunday afternoon, he also announced a 50 per cent quota in all nominated posts as also in works on nomination basis for the BCs for the first time in history.
A legislation on comprehensive BC Sub-Plan would be introduced in the first Assembly session and separate corporations would be set up for each of the 139 community among the backward classes, he said.
Also, Rs 75,000 a year would be provided as assistance to every woman handloom weaver aged above 45 years, he added.
Describing BCs as Bharatiya Culture and backbone of the country, Jagan came down heavily on Chief Minister and TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu for failing to implement any of the 119 promises made in the TDP BC Declaration before the 2014 elections.
“Chandrababu promised 33 per cent reservations for BCs. Nor did he have the heart to fill the 2.4 lakh government vacancies. He did not fulfil a single promise in his five-year rule till date. On the other hand, he diluted the 100 per cent fee reimbursement introduced by the late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy and pruned it to Rs 30,000 leading thousands of poor students into debt trap,” he observed.
The YSRCP president said that during the five-year TDP rule, the fee reimbursement arrears were to the tune of Rs 2,200 crore and those who completed the degree could not get their certificates from the colleges for failure to pay the fee.
“The TDP government also snatched away the lands of BCs, SCs, STs, and the poor farmers in the name of construction the capital at Amaravati. He has abused the BCs whenever they demanded implementation of the assurances,” he recalled.
