Visakhapatnam: Lok Satta party founder president N. Jayaprakash Narayan on August 3 will visit the Polavaram project which is being built spending thousands of crores of rupees for a first-hand knowledge of the situation prevailing there.
Informing this to reporters here on Tuesday, Lok Satta State president Beesetti Babji said that other leaders of the party would accompany him on the visit. The State Government had begun the work without proper plans and the CAG report had pointed out irregularities like public money to the tune of Rs.372.2 crore given to a contraction there. The State Government had also started the Pattiseema lift irrigation project without identifying the industrial beneficiaries, he noted and alleged that injustice was being meted out to north Andhra in allocation of Godavari waters. “The Government is not bothered about the Polavaram left canal works.
Unless they are completed, the irrigation and drinking water needs of people in north Andhra will not be met. Our leader Mr. Jayaprakash Narayan is visiting the Polavaram project to find out whether the claims by the rulers match with the situation there,” he said.
Mr.Babji also wondered why film actor and Jana Sena Party founder Pawan Kalyan, who boasts of fighting on people’s issues, is silent on the huge land scams that are rocking the State.
“Visakhapatnam district has witnessed land grabbing and tampering of land records involving lakhs of crores of rupees. People here are wondering why Mr. Pawan Kalyan is silent on this. We seek his intervention. He should talk to the Chief Minister and ensure a CBI probe. If our leader Mr. Jayaprakash Narayan and Mr. Pawan Kalyan take up the issue, the Government has to oblige,” he felt.
