Hyderabad: Students of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad do not have to visit the university anymore to apply for transcripts. The university has made transcripts of mark memos of the examination branch online and certificates will be delivered at the doorstep of the student. With the introduction of the new service, students can apply for transcripts through the web portal studentservices.jntuh.ac.in.
Presently, students have to wait in long queues at the counter to apply for the transcripts.
Transcripts play a key role in getting admissions into foreign universities. Every year, close to 22,000 engineering students of the JNTU-H apply for transcripts to pursue higher education in foreign universities. The JNTU-H issues close to six lakh transcripts to the students/graduates every year.
“This facility will come in handy for students who come from districts to apply for various certificates. In the offline mode, candidates used to apply at the counters and transcripts are given on the same day. Now they can apply online,” Dr. V Kamakshi Prasad, Director of Evaluation, JNTU-H, said. To avail of the facility, students first need to register on the student service portal. After registration, students can select the number of sets of transcripts he or she wants and furnish the residential address to which the transcripts will be sent. Candidates can pay the required fee through credit card/debit card/ net banking made available on the web portal.
The university will dispatch transcripts to candidates on the next working day through speed post. Students will have to pay close to Rs.50 towards delivery charges while the university charges Rs.40 for each transcript. “Initially the certificates will be sent to candidates through speed post. There are plans to take services of courier companies so that certificates can be sent to students on the same day,” Prasad said.
In addition to the transcripts of marks memos, students can also obtain migration certificates and medium of instruction certificates using the online service. Already, the university administration has been issuing original degree certificates to the students who apply online.
