Hyderabad: The Indira Priyadarshini Jurala Project in Mahabubnagar district has started receiving good inflows. Following release of water from Narayanpur and Alamatti dams in upper Karnataka, the project has begun receiving inflows.

Officials said the Jurala project could attain Full Reservoir Level (FRL) of 318.56 ft if the inflows continue for another four days at the same rate. On Monday, the project received about 5,000 cusecs of water. At present, the storage in Jurala has touched 7 tmc as against 3 tmc for the corresponding period last year.

Project superintending engineer S Prakash told Telangana Today that the inflows were set to rise further following release of water from Alamatti and Narayanpur in Karnataka. The officials in Karnataka have released water to downstream Jurala barrage. Under left and right canals of Jurala project, about 1.20 lakh acres are cultivated during kharif season.

The authorities are also making arrangements for power generation at Jurala Hydel Power Plant once the storage capacity reaches 11.94 tmc.
