Nagarkurnool: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Education Kadiam Srihari announced that from current year, State government would take more steps to strengthen Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas across the State.
Better food would be provided for students, including mutton on second and fourth Sundays, and chicken on first, third and fifth Sundays. CCTV cameras would be installed in all KGBVs for girls’ safety.
The Minister participated in the distribution of health and sanitation kits to girls in KGBV Padara on Sunday. the kits, which would be given to every girl once in three months contain 15 items essential for girls such as two soaps, talcum powder, two detergent soaps, tooth brush, tooth paste, tongue cleaner, 24 shampoos sachets, coconut hair oil, tiklis (bindi), two-metre long hair ribbon, rubber bands, 18 sanitary napkins, handwash, mosquito repellant device and so on.
Srihari also requested Atchampet MLA Guvala Balraju, who also participated in the event, to buy a television set for the girls in the school. MLA Balraju promised that a new TV would be provided to the school within a week.
