Kakatiya Cultural festival from Jan 17

The festival is being organised to help the present generation learn about the Kakatiya dynasty.

Hyderabad: In a view to showcase the cultural heritage of Kakatiya dynasty, the TSR Kakatiya Laitha Kala Parishath will organise the Kakatiya Cultural festival across the State from January 17.

As part of the cultural festival, the organisers will be presenting folk dance shows, musical programmes and others highlighting the Kakatiya culture.

The Kakatiya Kala Vaibhavam cultural festival programmes will be held at Hyderabad, Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar and other places. Besides dance and musical programmes, film artists will be honoured at these venues.

The inaugural function will be held at Shilpakala Vedika, Hyderabad on January 17. The cultural festival will be inaugurated by Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao.

Briefing about the festival here on Saturday, T Subbarami Reddy, MP, said the cultural festival is being organised to help the present generation learn about the Kakatiya dynasty.

Kakatiya dynasty ruled for over 300 years from Warangal and introduced many developmental and welfare programmes with special focus on arts and culture. All these good works have to be highlighted, he said.

To honour actor M Mohan Babu’s 42 years in the film industry, besides acting in 560 films, the TSR Kakatiya Laitha Kala Parishath will present the ‘Viswa Nata Sarvabhouma’ title to the actor.

Mohan Babu said it was an honour to be selected for the award and complimented Reddy for the work being done to promote art and culture and helping film artists.

During the inaugural function, Padmaja Reddy and her disciples will be performing a dance ballet “Rani Rudrama”, followed by V Sujatha’s dance ballet “Yaadadrivasa Manasa Smarami”. These apart, there will be folk dance shows and mimicry by noted actor Siva Reddy.
