Karimnagar: Karimnagar district recorded the highest single day spike of 86 Covid-19 cases on Monday, with the town alone accounting for 60 cases. The cases in the town were mostly from Boyawada, Ganeshnagar, Khaleelwadi, Vidhyanagar, Court road, Jafri road, Vasavinagar and Tower Circle areas. The total number of Covid-19 cases in the district now stands at 367.
The residents of Karimnagar, who were the first to be hit by panic in the State when 10 Indonesians tested positive for the virus in March, are going through the same emotions again with such large numbers being recorded on a single day. Following the development, there has been a substantial drop in public movement on the roads.
In the wake of increasing number of positive cases in the district, Collector K Shashanka visited the isolation centres in the district headquarters hospital, Satavahana University and Chelmedia Ananda Rao Medical College.
He instructed DMHO Dr Sujatha to make all necessary arrangements to provide treatment to the Covid patients in Satavahana University isolation centre. He enquired about the treatment being provided to positive patients in the district headquarters hospital during his interaction with hospital Superintendent Dr Ratnamala.
Doctors and nursing staff who were providing treatment to Covid patients should take all precautionary measures, and they must wear masks, gloves and face shields, he said.
Stating that self isolation was a better way to check the spread of the virus, Shashanka advised the people not to venture out of their houses and wear masks and maintain physical distancing if they do step out.
