Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar on Tuesday said that Karimnagar town would emerge as the second major town in the State once all the ongoing developmental works taken up under Smart City programme are completed. The Minister inspected the ongoing road works in Kisannagar area in the town on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, The Minister said the beautification works of Karimangar town were being taken up like a ‘yagnam’ (penance) and the face of the town would be changed once all the works were completed. He sought the cooperation from the people.
Roads taken up under Smart City were divided into three packages and the first package was already started in Housing Board Colony. Shifting of electric poles would be taken up very soon, he said. A total of 21 arterial roads have been identified under package-I and II. The width of the existing roads in the town is between 20 to 30 feet. However, they are laying 60-foot roads by removing illegal occupations.
Interacting with officials and contractors, Minister enquired about the planning and widening of the roads, removal of illegal occupation in the town and others. He also interacted with local people and sought their cooperation.
