Karthi has also joined the brigade of the actors from the Tamil film industry who have managed to create good market for themselves among the Telugu audience. Dubbed versions of all his films have done well at the box offices here and Oopiri, his first direct Telugu film was also a big hit. His last outing Khakee was released in November last year. The actor is working hard to build a stronger market here and so, he’s back as Chinna Babu this time.
To promote the film which is releasing tomorrow, the actor was in the city and spoke to the media on how Chinna Babu will surely be a celebration of life.
Chinna Babu is directed by Pandiraj and produced by actor-turned-producer Surya, who joined hands with his brother Karthi to make this film. Talking about working with his brother as a producer, Karthi says, “Surya is a good producer. He made sure that the cast has got all that they needed. But, he never came to the sets as he trusted me blindly.”
Karthi will be playing Chinna Babu, the only brother of five sisters. He is the most-pampered one and, at the same time, as he grows up into a gentleman, he takes the responsibility of the family.
“I am glad to be back to the Telugu audience who have been receiving all my films very well. Chinna Babu is a happy and proud farmer. His father gives him the responsibility of taking care of his sisters, who are already married, and their families. How he always stands by their side as a pillar of support and how he solves the issues when problems arise is what Chinna Babu is all about,” says Karthi.
The film mainly stresses on two things — importance of farmers and joint families. The director will be showing the positive side of being a farmer. In other words, Karthi will be a happy farmer in this film. Joint families, importance of living together and a lot more about caring families will be shown in this film.
“As we are living in a concrete jungle, we don’t know the beauty of farming and how important farmers are. My wife hails from a village and my father-in-law is still a farmer. She keeps going to their village during holidays and I accompany her sometimes. I like the environment there. I had also invested in organic farming and will keep doing it,” Karthi added.
Ask him about his next direct Telugu film, Karthi says that he is waiting for the right script. “I expected many offers after Oopiri. Though many have come, I wasn’t happy with the storylines. I will always look forward to doing Telugu films,” concludes the handsome hero.
