With Kavacham releasing on December 7, one has to wait and watch whether the long weekend due to the upcoming elections and no other Telugu film slated for release in the next two weeks will enhance the box office collections.

The cast is very confident about how the film shaped up and are actively promoting it. During his latest interaction prior to the release of Kavacham, lead actor Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas talks about donning a cop’s role so early in his career and how he wants to increase his working pace.

About the film

Sreenivas is very excited about what his new film has to offer to the audience. “Kavacham is an action-thriller packed with suspense elements. How a cop acts as a shield to protect people (Kavacham) forms the crux of the story. It is a very racy and high-paced entertainer, so the audience won’t be diverted from the screen,” says the actor who worked night and day to finish songs and dubbing of this film.

When asked about working with a debutante director, he says, “Sreenivas Mamilla, though a new director, there is nothing naïve about his work. He worked extensively as a co-director and knows the story and shots inside out. His thorough knowledge helped us actors to perform better. Our director pleasantly surprised us and he will definitely be one of the best filmmakers in this industry.”

Role preparation

“I have been inspired by Amitabh Bachchan’s cop roles. Since it is my first time playing a cop, I followed a lot of his movies and, in fact, my character is called Vijay,” quips Sreenivas. The actor prefers action films over love stories and other genres because he believes that there is room to perform more and showcase every aspect of an actor’s abilities.

Co-stars

Apart from Kajal Aggarwal, Mehreen Pirzada has a key role to play in this film. In all his films, the biggest names of T’town are cast opposite him. In this regard, he says, “Big budget and the overall look of the film are generally very rich and nice. This is probably the reason why many leading ladies choose to act opposite me.”

Upcoming projects…

“I have completed shooting for Teja sir’s film and he is superb. If given a chance, I would be happy doing more films with him,” says the star. Sreenivas has signed three to four films, but will reveal further details on his birthday (January 3).
