Hydearbad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao expressed happiness over arrangements made by the Electricity Department for power supply to various lift irrigation projects and pump houses being constructed as part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS). To ensure uninterrupted power supply to KLIS, the TS Transco is setting up a dedicated network of sub-stations, transformers and electricity lines which will be ready by March next year.
Inspecting the ongoing works at sub-stations being set up in connection with pump houses for Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla Barrages on Thursday, the Chief Minister observed that planning, preparation of power requirement estimations and hard work by the electricity department employees in establishing the power network was showing results. The TS Transco and TS Genco Chairman and Managing Director D Prabhakar Rao explained to the Chief Minister about the progress of various works taken up by the department.
About 440 MW power is estimated to be required for operating Medigadda Barrage Pump House for which the TSTransco established a 220 KV sub-station and laid 220 KV double circuit line for 80 km. Similarly, the Annaram Barrage Pump House is estimated to require around 320 MW for which another 220 KV sub-station and 220 KV double circuit line for 28 km were established. A 400 KV sub-station is being constructed to supply 360 MW power for Sundilla Barrage Pump House. Further, works have been taken up to lay 400 KV double circuit line between Nirmal and Sundilla. The 400 KV sub-station at Sundilla will also serve power distribution to sub-stations at Medigadda and Annaram. Arrangements are also being made for necessary power supply.
