KCR to launch sheep scheme in Kondapaka mandal

The government has decided to distribute 84 lakh sheep to Golla and Kurma community people across the State to improve their livelihood.

Siddipet: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will launch sheep distribution programme at Vedic School in Kondapaka mandal headquarters on June 20.

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, District Collector P Venkatrami Reddy, Commissioner of Police V Shiva Kumar and other officials have inspected Kondapaka and Duddeda, where the helipad is being created, on Sunday. Harish Rao instructed the officials to make all arrangements to make the programme a grand success.

The government decided to distribute 84 lakh sheep to Golla and Kurma community people across the State to improve their livelihood and also make Telangana a meat exporting State soon. The Chief Minister will distribute the sheep units to selected beneficiaries marking the launch of the programme at Kondapaka.

During a review meeting with Co-operative Societies of Golla Kurma Community at Kondapak, Collector P Venkatrami Reddy said they had selected 825 beneficiaries from Kondapaka mandal to distribute sheep units on June 20.

While the each beneficiary needs to pay Rs 31,750 towards each unit, which comprises 20 sheep and a ram, the State government will pay its share of Rs 91,250 on behalf of each beneficiary.

The Collector said Siddipet district administration was gearing up to purchase sheep from Kurnool to distribute them to all the selected beneficiaries in Siddipet district.
