Hyderabad: The water being impounded at various points of Kaleshwaram irrigation project is just the beginning and if good rains follow, the parched areas of Telangana State would be irrigated by Godavari river water and would turn green, said TRS working president KT Rama Rao.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Rama Rao said so far, 11 TMCft of water has been impounded from the water flowing in just Pranahita river despite the poor rains so far. “This is the result of having the Statehood movement leader KCR as the Chief Minister and his vision,” Rama Rao said.

Responding to a tweet from one of his followers on Hyderabad city running out of drinking water supplies, Rama Rao, referring to the project, said: “Hon’ble CM KCR’s vision & persistence in completing the project in 3 years has made sure that Hyderabad will never have a drinking water crisis a la Chennai and other metropolitan cities.”
