Hyderabad: The majestic 61 feet idol of Lord Ganesha of Khairathabad, the main attraction of Ganesh festivities in the city, was immersed in Hussain Sagar lake around 2 pm on Thursday.
Devotees in large numbers had gathered at Khairathabad since morning and joined the Shoba Yatra for immersion. The procession slowly passed through Lakdikapul and nearby areas and headed to Hussain Sagar with devotees lined up all along the procession route and more devotees awaiting at the immersion point.
Amid loud chants of ‘Jai Bolo Ganesh Maharaj Ki Jai’, the idol completed its nimajjanam from crane number six. Meanwhile, more idols from different parts of the city had begun to arrive at the water body which happens to be the main immersion point for the Ganesh idols.
