Khammam Collector urged for effective summary revision of electoral rolls

Khammam: Electoral rolls observer G Ashok has appealed to the political parties to extend cooperation to the district administration in carrying out special summary revision of electoral rolls.

He held a meeting with the representatives of different political parties here on Tuesday seeking their views on the process of electoral rolls revision in Khammam district. If there were any objections on the electoral draft published in last December, the same should be brought to the notice of concerned officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashok expressed satisfaction over the ongoing process of summary revision of electoral rolls in Khammam district and commended the district administration.

He congratulated District Collector RV Karnan for receiving State Democracy Award recently and noted that the Collector had ensured that electoral rolls revision carried out effectively in the district. Ashok further asked the youngsters of legal age to enroll their names in voters list. The public can submit their claims and objections, if any by Jan 15, he added.

The Collector Karnan apprised the observer of a special campaign which was conducted to receive claims and objections and for enrolling new voters on Jan 11 and 12. As many as 20, 989 double entries of voters were removed and the voters were provided voting right at the place of their option through online process.

In all 40,670 claims of different forms were addressed in five Assembly segments in the district. There were a total 11,24,497 voters spread over 1,363 polling stations in the district and of them, 5,74,490 were female and 5,49,950 were male voters, Karnan explained.

The representatives of political parties urged the officials to set up a polling station at Gudimalla-ST Thanda of Palair Assembly constituency. The officials later visited several polling stations and interacted with booth level officers about the arrangements.

Electoral rolls observer Ashok later on the day held a meeting with representatives of political parties at Kothagudem. DRO Sirisha and others were present at the meeting.
