Khammam: Of the 23 municipal wards in Sathupalli Municipality the TRS has won six wards unanimously as the opponents have withdrawn their nominations.
The TRS won two municipal wards on Monday and four on Tuesday, the last day to withdraw the nomination papers. The party has won 4, 5, 6, 8, 17 and 18 municipal wards.
The following were the candidates who were elected unanimously: Matta Prasad, ward-4 (OC-general), Narukulla Mamatha, ward-5 (OC-women), Thota Sujalarani, ward-6 (BC-general), Shaik Chand Pasha, ward-8 (BC-general), Vemulapalli Pushpalatha, ward-17 (BC-women) and Shaik Moula Ali, ward-18 (BC-general).
It might be noted that the TRS nominee Adunori Padmaja was elected unanimously from ward number 3 (BC-women) in Madhira Municipality as a TRS rebel candidate and TDP nominee withdrew their nominations on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the District Collector RV Karnan has made a surprise visit to Wyra Municipality and monitored the process of withdrawal of nominations on Tuesday. He directed the election officials to prepare the final list of contestants as per the guidelines of Election Commission.
The final list of contestants has to be verified thoroughly before going for the printing of ballot papers. Measures for smooth conduct of polling have to be taken and there should be no scope for any untoward incidents, the Collector noted.
