KLIS will transform face of agriculture in Telangana: Indrakaran Reddy

Around 15,000 people attend Kaleshwaram Jala Jatara on Godavari banks

Mancherial: Mass dining in a park or at a religious structure is a common practice in Telangana in the month of Ashadam to worship certain deities in the hope to ward off seasonal diseases. In an unusual scene, thousands flocked to the shores of Godavari river to express gratitude to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for visioning Kaleshwaram project and accomplishing the same in a short span of time.

Ministers Indrakaran Reddy, Koppula Eshwar and MP Venkatesh Netha were present. Legislators Durgam Chinnaiah, Balka Suman, MLC Puranam Satheesh, TBGKS president Venkat Rao, Zilla Parishad Chairpersons N Bhagyalaxmi and Kova Laxmi, Library Corporation Chairman R Praveen and many others were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Indrakaran Reddy expressed happiness over the conduct of the lunch. He was all praise for Chandrashekhar Rao for embarking on the daunting task and successfully completing it. He said that the engineering marvel would transform the face of agriculture sector in Telangana by irrigating 40 lakh acres. Farming sector would undergo a phenomenal growth with the advent of the project, he added.

A festival like atmosphere was witnessed as hundreds of people from different walks of life gathered for taking part in Kaleshwaram Jala Jatara, a community lunch hosted by Mancherial MLA Nadipelli Diwakar Rao near Sripada Yellampalli Project built across Godavari river, on the outskirts of Gudipet village in Hajipur mandal on Saturday.

The event was held for marking the discharge of water lifted from Kaleshwaram project into the major irrigation project and to express gratitude to Chandrashekhar Rao for setting up the lift irrigation scheme and for commissioning it in barely three years of time. Nearly 15,000 people belonging to several parts of the district attended the event.

The Minister opined that Bangaru Telangana, a long pending dream, would be realised soon with commissioning of KLIS. He stated that the project was beneficial to erstwhile Adilabad district by irrigating 3 lakh acres of agriculture fields. He added that existing projects would be filed with water lifted through the Kaleshwaram project.

Koppula Eshwar, Diwakar Rao, Suman and Chinnaiah also spoke and hailed the Chief Minister for the project. The guests were felicitated by Mancherial MLA.
