Kondagattu bus tragedy

Shanivarampet: Shanivarampet of Kodimyal mandal, from where a majority of the Kondagattu bus tragedy hailed lacks transport facilities, despite it being located just 25 km from the district headquarters. As there was no bus service till 3 pm, many villagers packed themselves in the 10 am bus service, villagers recalled.

They said the bus service makes six trips every day, which was insufficient. The Jagitial-Shanivarampet shuttle vehicle, which used to make a night halt in the village, would start its first trip at 5 am. Speaking to the Telangana Today, a villager Gannevari Chinna Bheema Lingam said villagers had to depend only on this bus as there was no other alternative. Only one autorickshaw plies on this route and to ensure that the village got a bus service, villagers did ‘shramdan’ to lay a road.

Another villager, Jamuna said that people used to call the bus drivers to know the location of the service whenever there was a delay. Another villager, Salandra Mallaiah blamed the Jagtial bus depot manager for the accident, who forced the drivers to operate bus through the ghat road to save fuel.
