Kondapalli toys turn heads at mela

Karimnagar: Glassy look and attractive colours on toys are attracting customers. The world-famous Kondapalli toys are getting special attention at the handloom and handicrafts exhibition organised at Revenue Gardens here by Kalateja Handlooms and Handicrafts Karmika Seva Samithi, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.     

About 100 varieties of toys, including bullock cart, veena, peacock, Lord Balaji dancing doll, men and women in a palki, and others are displayed at the stall.

Besides toys, Hyderabad pearls and bangles, woodenware (both black and while metal) of Sarangapur, gold jewellery, jute and leather bags are other attractions in the handicrafts segment.

In handlooms, Kalamkari, Pochampalli and Mangalagiri cotton clothes, Pondur Kaddar, Chirala sarees and dress materials, Narayanpet sarees, Warangal towels and lungies, Uppada and Madavaram pattu, Kadapa khadi shirts and others are popular.

Speaking to Telangana Today, exhibition organiser Ande Simhadri said that different varieties of handlooms and handicraft products have been displayed at the exhibition-cum-sale by establishing 60 stalls. About 10 per cent special discount is being offered to customers on all items.

With a view to provide marketing facility to its members, Kalateja Handloom and Handicraft Karmika Seva Samithi, which has 60 members, is organising exhibitions across the country. Members who manufacture the clothes and handicrafts would directly sell their products at the exhibition, he said.
