Kothagudem: Crocodile hatchling found in fishnet

The fishermen who were fishing in Kollu Cheruvu on the outskirts of Burgampahad found the hatchling, about one and half feet long, among the fish in the net.

Kothagudem: A crocodile hatchling caught in a fishnet caused a flutter in the fishermen community at Burgampahad in the district on Sunday.

According to locals, the fishermen who were fishing in Kollu Cheruvu on the outskirts of Burgampahad found the hatchling, about one and half feet long, among the fish in the net.

The fishermen Gunde Venkanna, Gonela Venkateswarlu and G Brahmam, immediately separated the baby animal from the fish and alerted the local forest officials. They handed over the baby crocodile to forest beat officer Alivelu Manga who said they would release it in waters at a safe place.

Meanwhile, the locals appealed to the forest officials to look for the mother crocodile, catch it and release it in some other place so that the fishermen and the locals are safe.
