Kothagudem: One may not have heard of a tree creating a record for any reason. But, believe or not, a guava tree on the premises of the District Collector’s camp office here has gained entry into the Telugu Book of Records for bearing the maximum number of fruits at a time.
Founder and chairman of the Telugu Book of Records Chintapatla Venkata Chary said the two-year-old tree planted by Collector MV Reddy had given 1,092 fruits at a time.
Normally, most guava trees give 100 to 150 fruits at a time. Use of organic farming methods and care in nurturing the plant may have helped the plant bear such a huge number of fruits, said Chary and Book of Records Telangana chief coordinator Sai Sree.
The Collector expressed pleasure at the recognition and said he liked gardening and dedicated some time for plants in the garden every day.
