Jagtial: Koti Lingala, the first capital of the Satavahana dynasty, is all set to attract tourists from different areas with the Tourism Department starting boating point at the historical place. Finance and Civil Supplies Minister Etela Rajender on Saturday started boating point by inaugurating two boats. In order to develop the historic place as a tourist spot, Telangana Tourism Department has decided to a start boating point on the banks of the river Godavari besides the historic Koteswara Siddeshwara Swamy temple.
Two tourist boats of 50 and 35 seating capacity were inaugurated. The boats were named after the great kings of Satavahana dynasty Shathakarni (50 seats) and Pulomavi (35 seats). Besides these, a speed boat (5 seats capacity) will also be available for tourists. While Shathakarni will be operated between Koti Lingala to Yellampalli, Pulomavi will travel up to Rayapatnam bridge and Dharmapuri. Tourists can travel in these boats by paying Rs 50 for elders and Rs 30 for children.
However, Rs 350 is the fare for each person to travel in speed boat. On the other hand, Tourism Department officials are planning to announce packages for boating very soon. Janardhan, Assistant General Manager, Tourism Department, informed that they were preparing plans to operate boats to Dharmapuri and Yellampalli from Kotilingala. Devotees who would visit Koti Lingala could also easily reach Dharmapuri and Yellampalli by traveling in the boats. For the purpose, they are going to finalise the tour package very soon, he informed.
