Hyderabad: The three-member committee of the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) which met here on Thursday to decide on the water indents placed by both the Telugu States to meet their summer needs, allotted 29 tmc for Telangana and 17.5 tmc for Andhra Pradesh.
The availability of water from the two common reservoirs – Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar was put at 18 tmc and 33 tmc respectively. Out of 51 tmc net storage available in the two projects, Telangana will have a major share for the season as it did not utilise its full share allocated for Khariff.
The three member committee decided to allot 3.50 tmc from the Mahatma Gandhi Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme for Mission Bhagiratha, (Telangana water grid project) to meet its requirements till August, 2019.
Another 5 tmc was allotted from Nagarjunasagar project for Mission Bhagiratha programme to meet the water needs till August 2019. The Board had agreed to provide 8.50 tmc to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water supply to meet the drinking water needs in the twin cities of Hyderabad till August 2019.
The board also allotted 3 tmc for feeding tanks under the Alimineti Madhav Reddy Project (AMRP) and another nine TMC for saving the Rabi crops under the Nagarjunasagar left canal.
So far as the proposed releases for AP are concerned, 3 tmc was allotted for Handri Neeva Sujala Shravanti (HNSS) and Muchumarri LIS, 8 tmc for Nagarjuna Sagar Right Canal, and 3 TMC for NS left canal .
