KRMB asks Telangana to furnish DPRs of all new projects on Krishna

Hyderabad: The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) on Thursday wanted the Telangana government to furnish Detailed Project Reports (DPR) of new projects taken up by the State for clearance from KRMB and the Central water Commission (CWC) and final sanction by the Apex Council consisting of Minister Jal Shakti and Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Harikesh Meena, member KRMB in his letter addressed to the Principal Secretary, Irrigation and CAD department asked for copies of the DPRs and project details of the schemes taken up by the government of Telangana. Through its earlier letter on May 30, the KRMB has directed the government not to go ahead with the new projects till the projects are appraised by the KRMB and CWC and sanctioned by the Apex Council.

On June 4, the KRMB after its 12th meeting decided that the Telangana and AP governments must submit their respective DPRs within a week’s time. However government of Telangana and AP have stated that the issue will be apprised to the respective State governments and further action will be taken accordingly. “However the DPRs have not been received so far ,” the member KRMB said in his letter.

The KRMB has sought DPRs for projects including Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme , Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme, Bhaktha Ramadas Lift Irrigation Scheme, Water Grid Project taken up under Mission Bhagiratha, Thummilla Lift Irrigation Scheme, and enhancing scope of Mahatma Gandhi Kalwakurthi Lift Irrigation Scheme (MGKLIS) , Nettempadu Lift irrigation Scheme and Srisailam Left bank canal (SLBC).
