Hyderabad: In wake of the Varanasi flyover collapse incident, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) engineers to be vigilant and alert with respect to safety precautions.

Nearly 15 people died and 11 others were injured in the flyover collapse on Tuesday.

GHMC is constructing flyovers and grade separators at different areas in the city as part of the Strategic Road Development Programme, besides double bedroom housing construction works and many other civil works.

The Minister instructed GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy to review safety arrangements at all work sites. If need be, he wanted the officials to arrange more precautionary and safety measures.

Rao instructed GHMC Chief Engineer Sridhar to take stock of all work sites to address any deficiencies or inadequate arrangements on workers safety or road safety such as barricades and others.
