KTR inspects measures being taken up to prevent spread of coronavirus

Hyderabad: Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday toured various parts of the city and inspected the ongoing measures taken up to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

On noticing some daily wage labourers, who are natives of Suryapet and stranded in city due to lockdown, walking along with their belongings, Rao who was on his way to Buddha Bhavan stopped the convoy and interacted with them. He arranged for a vehicle and instructed the officials to make sure they reached their destination safely.

He also interacted with a youth, an orphan and native of Bihar, and instructed the officials to shift the youth to one of the night shelters.

Later, he went to the EVDM office at Buddha Bhavan and enquired about measures being taken up by the GHMC Disaster Response Force (DRF) to curtail the spread of coronavirus. He visited the call centre set up at the GHMC head office to respond to the queries related to coronavirus.

Rao also inspected a night shelter at Golnaka and enquired with senior citizens and children there about facilities provided to them. The officials were told to provide Aasara Pension to eligible persons.

The Minister inspected the sanitation levels in nearby colony and appealed to the residents not to panic and assured that the government is taking all steps to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Rao said the online e-commerce services from Amazon, FlipKart, Big Basket should be continued to avoid inconvenience to the citizens and asked DGP Mahender Reddy and IT and Industries Principal Secretary, Jayesh Ranjan to ensure free flow of the services and exempt the delivery persons from the lockdown.

The Minister also urged the hostel/ PG managements to not evict anyone from their properties and instructed officials to ensure that the hostels/ PGs receive the support to continue their functions without any problem.
