KTR urged to release funds for MMTS phase-II

Hyderabad: The Suburban Train and Bus Travellers Association, Malkajgiri, on Tuesday appealed to MA&UD Minister, KT Rama Rao to issue orders on release of funds for MMTS phase-II.

The association has requested Rao following reports that Railway Ministry had advised Rail Vikas Nigam Limited to stall the project due to non-receipt of funds from State government, which has agreed to share 2/3 cost of the project. The association also appealed to MPs, MLAs, Transport Minister and HMDA authorities on funds for the project.

Though the 10 km stretch between Malkajgiri- Bolarum electrification, which cost Rs 30 crore could be completed within six months, even after three years the project is yet be completed to run MMTS trains on this section, the association said.
