Rajanna-Sircilla: IT, Industries and Municipal Administation Minister K T Rama Rao on Tuesday instructed officials to complete package-9 works of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme by Dasara festival.
The Minister inspected the tunnel and bund works near Malkapeta of Konaraopet mandal after hoisting the tricolour at the collectorate on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day. Rama Rao went into the tunnel and inspected the ongoing works of lining and pump house construction.
Stating that the works were not up to the mark, the Minister instructed irrigation officials to speed up works. He also instructed the officials to supply water to agricultural fields by filling Upper Manair reservoir with Godavari water by next Dasara festival.
Irrigation officials informed the Minister that forest officials were objecting to works being taken up in forest lands though alternate land was provided to the department in another place. Responding to the issue, Rama Rao asked officials to inform the matter to the District Collector if such problems persisted in the future.
He also instructed officials to take steps to ensure that there was no seepage in the bund near Malkapeta. Both Walpeta and Malkapeta reservoir were suitable for tourism development, he said and asked officials to take steps in this regard. Rama Rao advised the officials to plant flower-bearing trees of different kinds on the six bunds.
District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar, Additional Collector Anjaiah, Executive Engineer of package-9, Srinivas Reddy and others participated in the programme.
Seeks cooperation of public to check seasonal diseases
Minister K T Rama Rao has sought the cooperation of all section of society in checking the spread of seasonal diseases during the monsoon season.
The Minister was speaking after inspecting the sanitation conditions in 23rd and 27th wards of Sircilla Municipality on Tuesday. He interacted with the residents to get first hand information on the problems they faced.
When residents of Padmanagar informed him that they were facing severe hardships due to mosquitoes, the Minister instructed municipal authorities to take steps to put an end to the mosquito menace in the area.
Later, Rama Rao visited JP Nagar where the locals complained to him that some persons were trying to encroach upon graveyard land located in Tank Shikam. The Minister instructed Revenue Divisional Officer T Srinivasa Rao to look into the matter.
