KU engg alumni urged to mentor students, offer placement support

Kothagudem: Kakatiya University (KU) Registrar Prof. K Purushotham has called upon former engineering students of the university to come forward to mentor the engineering students of the varsity.

He attended an online alumni meeting of University College of Engineering, Kothagudem, organised by the college on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, he stressed on the need and importance of alumni in the development of the university.

Prof. Purushotham wanted the engineering alumni who have settled in top positions in their companies to extend placement assistance to the students pursuing engineering courses at various engineering colleges of the university. A database of former students has to be prepared, he suggested.

In response to the Registrar’s appeal the alumni members have assured to extend all possible support, including financial aid, to the university development and asked the university authorities to come up with specific proposals.

The University College of Engineering principal S Ramana presided over the meeting which was attended by over 100 former students from different parts of the country and Prof. P Malla Reddy of Kakatiya University.

Retired SCCL official K Amarnath, former adviser to Government of India, DN Prasad, Prof. K Ramchander of NIT, Suratkal, Microsoft employee Sridhar, HS Venkatesh, K Srinvas, Shiva Kumar, Ajay Shanker Gupta, MS Venkataramaiah and B Shiva were among the alumni who attended the meeting.
