Mahabubnagar: Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy on Friday challenged TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy to prove himself as a person who respects the martyrs of Telangana by abstaining from contesting the Huzurnagar Assembly constituency, where Telangana martyr Srikanthachary’s mother Kasoju Shankaramma is keen on contesting on a TRS ticket.

Addressing a meeting of farmers in Midgil on Friday, he said that it was the misrule by Congress party for several decades which had resulted in martyrdom of youngsters who laid down their lives for the cause of Telangana. He said that Uttam Kumar Reddy had no moral high ground to speak about Telangana martyrs.

He said that the TRS government had done exceptionally well in rectifying the faults of Congress by launching several schemes which made farmers of Telangana the king. He spoke about Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bhima, uninterrupted power supply, sheep scheme, pashu kranthi and other schemes which have brought a sea change in the lives of farmers.

He criticised the Congress for trying to lay roadblocks against every developmental initiative of the State government. “They filed court cases against medical college in Mahabubnagar, against Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project, and even against the crop input financial assistance which the farmers would be receiving in November. What else can we say about such ideological poverty,” he said.

He found fault with the unholy alliance between Congress, TDP and other parties which were joining forces against TRS in the coming elections. “People have clarity about who to believe and who to vote for. Just because they are promising the moon and the stars, people will not fall to such lure. People will teach a fitting lesson to TDP and Congress soon,” he added.

Farmers who attended the meeting assured that they would vote for TRS in the coming elections, as they were largely benefited by the government schemes in the past few years.

During his day’s tour in his constituency, Laxma Reddy also inspected the canal works of Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme in Munnanur village of Midgil mandal.
