Librarians asked to keep abreast with latest technologies

Prof. K.Ashoka Reddy stressed on the importance of IEEE e-journals and role of librarians in the pandemic period.

Warangal Urban: Prof K Ashoka Reddy, Principal of the Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science (KITS), Warangal, has urged librarians to update their digital skills to provide better service to students, researchers and other users.

A one-day national webinar on “IEEE Xplore digital library enhancing libraries drive innovation forward in unprecedented times” was conducted on Monday by the Central Library, KITSW, in collaboration with IEEE/EBSCO Information services India Pvt Ltd for academic librarians all over India.

Addressing the participants, Prof. K.Ashoka Reddy stressed on the importance of IEEE e-journals and role of librarians in the pandemic period.

MS Srinivas, IEEE Training Manager, Bengaluru, highlighted the importance of e-journals especially for the librarians who are involved in research activity and e-journals that will help in updating in their field of research and teaching as well. He educated the participants how to access and search the e-journals available in the digital library.

Dr DhanuKumar, Senior IEEE Client Services Manage, Bengaluru, explained about COVID-19 related resources available from IEEE, new remote access solutions for IEEE Xplore subscribers, upcoming enhancements to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library and support services to the libraries. R Nirmala Devi, Associate Professor, presented a vote of thanks on behalf of the institution to the speakers and participants as well. A total of 811 librarians from all over India participated in the webinar.
