Singer Nikhita Gandhi joined hands with composer Bharat Goel for their latest indie offering, ‘Kamli’, which recently crossed over 1 million views on YouTube. The song is a classic example of cutting-edge composition and production.

Talking about the concept of the song, Bharat says, “‘Kamli’ is the story of secret admiration based in modern times. I have always had a very keen interest in dance music composition and production and this song gave me the opportunity to fulfil that. Nikhita was the perfect choice for the vocals and I’m glad the song clicked with the audience.”

Nikhita recorded the song during lockdown in her own studio which she built a year ago. “It was great working with Bharat and the song is getting good reviews as well. I would be delighted to work on another song with him.”

The dentist-turned-singer never anticipated that she would come all this way. “I never even thought that I will be a playback singer someday. Life takes you in the right direction eventually. At one time in my career, I was completely directionless. I used to doubt myself but then ‘Qafirana’ song was released. Soon after its launch, it received immense love from audience which cheered me up. I realised that it is okay to feel low sometimes but you must believe in yourself.”

The ‘Do You Love Me’ singer also shared the message of embracing your flaws. “I was a chubby tomboy back in my teenage days. I was very self- conscious and a completely different person than I am today. If I could tell something to my teenage version I would ask her to hang on and believe in self. I am glad that I crossed all those paths to reach where I am today.”
