Lightning strike kills couple in Nalgonda

Bodies of Ellavula Venkaiah and his wife Naramma who were killed after the lightning strike in Nalgonda on Saturday.

Nalgonda: Two sheep-rearers were killed on the spot in a lightning strike at Avantipuram village of Miryalaguda mandal in Nalgonda district on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The victims were identified as Ellavula Venkaiah (60) and his wife Naramma (55), of Alagadapa village.

The couple were herding a flock of sheep when lightning struck them leading to their instantaneous death in agricultural fields. They were engaged by a mutton shop owner Malla Reddy for tending to the sheep. Police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to Area Hospital at Miryalaguda for post-mortem.

Miryalaguda MLA N Bhashar Rao visited the hospital and consoled the members of the bereaved family ans assured to extend necessary help to them from government.
