Khammam: The Left parties — CPI and CPM — have joined hands with the TRS for MPTC and ZPTC elections in Raghunathapalem mandal in Khammam district.

The leaders of the two parties campaigned for TRS candidates contesting in the third phase of the local bodies elections on Wednesday. TRS leader and Khammam MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar, along with CPI district secretary B Hemantha Rao and others, toured VV Palem, Vepakuntla and other villages in Raghunathapalem mandal.

In the mandal, there are 14 MPTC seats, of which one seat was allotted to CPI candidate G Rambabu, supported by the TRS and the CPM. The TRS candidates are contesting in the remaining seats as part of an understanding among the leaders locally. TRS’ M Priyanka is contesting for the ZPTC seat.

Ajay Kumar, addressing public meetings in villages, appealed to voters to elect the TRS candidates and the CPI’s MPTC candidate backed by the TRS and the CPM. He said every village in Khammam district had received the fruits of the development under the TRS regime.
For an all-round and speedy development of villages and for the implementation of welfare initiatives effectively, the TRS candidates must be elected in the ongoing MPTC-ZPTC elections, the MLA said.

He said the villages had seen massive transformation with schemes such as Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya and others introduced by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. Similarly, the financial assistance to farmers was taken care of with Rythu Bandhu scheme, he told the villagers.

Earlier, TRS leader Nama Nageswara Rao, speaking to the media along with Ajay Kumar in Khammam, expressed confidence that the TRS would win Zilla Parishad Chairman posts of both Khammam and Kothagudem districts. He reminded that the TRS government had come up with innovative schemes such as Kalyana Lakshmi for the benefit of all sections of society. The Federal Front mooted by the Chief Minister would help Telangana witness further development, he said.
