Hyderabad: Loyola Academy emerged champions in the Clubs category in the Annual League Basketball Championship of the Hyderabad District Basketball Association that concluded at YMCA, Secunderabad.
In the four-team Super League, Loyola and Sanathnagar Playground had two wins and one loss. However, Loyola were declared champions by virtue of their win over Sanathnagar. Loyola had beaten Young Men Guild while they lost to Bits Pilani, Hyderabad. YMG and Bits Pilani were tied for the third spot with one each but the former won as they had beaten Bits Pilani.
Loyola received a cash prize of Rs 8,000 while Sanathnagar PG got Rs 6,000. Bits Pilani were presented a special prize for being the only team which progressed from Level-IV to Level-III to Level-II to Super League Finals and being the only team which defeated the eventual Clubs Winners Loyola Academy. Sridhar Reddy, president of HDBA, gave away the prizes to the winners.
