Every time we listen to a melodious song, it is the lyrics that attract us most times, and the credit goes to the lyricist of course! Shreshta is one such lyricist in recent times, who has quite a good number of songs in a few recent blockbuster movies to her credit.
She has penned the popular Chinuku Taake and Merise Merise in Pellichoopulu; Madhurame and Gundelona from Arjun Reddy; Enno Enno Bhaavaley and Nevallaney from Yudham Sharanam. She even composed the tune for a song in Arjun Reddy and has introduced a new singer to the industry through this song.
Since childhood, the way I react and respond to the situations around me is fast. When I started understanding the incidents in a better way, I slowly started writing poems and later made them songs. By the time I completed LLB from Osmania University, I had a book of songs that I had written. Through a common friend, I met a music director and that’s how I got a chance to debut through Oka Romantic Crime Katha. I later wrote for movies like Ko Ante Koti and Courier Boy Kalyan.
On losing & turning points
At the time when I was scaling heights in the industry as a lyricist, there were many people who played mind games with me. They acted as if they supported me in front of me but were turned out to be something else behind my back. Slowly, I understood that in the film industry, it is difficult to experience success without a godfather. Then, people who recognised my talent started encouraging me. I would like to give the credit of being a turning point in my life to Pellichoopulu movie. The director and crew of the movie had encouraged me a lot. After its release, I was showered with many new projects.
Future song projects
I am writing for Anup Rubens for his next film. Recently, I was signed by Ram Gopal Varma too. I shall keep writing as long as I can. Right now, I have no thoughts of practising law but, I shall do it someday.
