Mahabubabad: Four people including a five-month-old boy tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, and they were shifted to Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad, for treatment, according to the officials. The victims, native migrants, returned to their respective villages from Maharastra recently. While one belonged to Kantayapalem village of Thorrur mandal, two hail from Madipally village and the five-month-old belonged to Ammapuram village in the district. Officials said that a total of 12 people from Borivali, suburb of Mumbai, had arrived in a bus to the district on May 16. Meanwhile, one person of Kantayapalem fell sick and died while being shifted to Mahabubabad district government hospital on May 17.

Following this, the officials had put his wife in isolation ward and sent her blood samples for test in which it was found that she was also infected by the Covid-19.This has prompted the officials to trace 27 primary contacts of the victims. They were all put in isolation, and blood samples were collected for tests. Four of them tested positive for the Covid-19 on Thursday. The officials are waiting for the results of the other patients. Meanwhile, District Collector VP Gautham visited Kanatyapalem on Friday and enquired with the officials about the measures being taken to trace the suspects/patients.

He also asked the local RMP not to offer treatment to the Covid-19 suspects. He directed the officials to take steps for spraying of the sodium hypochlorite at the village. Official sources said that a total of 2600 native migrants returned to Mahabubabad district from different states. The Collector asked the officials to ensure that the native migrants must be put under home quarantine.
