Mahabubabad: Police arrested three Maoist militants and seized a dump of 414 live rounds of different weapons under Dubbagudem Gram Panchayat limits in Gangaram mandal in the district on Sunday. The arrested have been identified as Bandi Sudhakar of Mamidigudem, a hamlet of Dubbagudem Gram Panchayat, Kalthi Sammaiah of Miryalapet, a hamlet of Dubbagudem GP, and Poleboina Saraiah of Dubbagudem village.

Presenting them before the media here, SP N Koti Reddy said that Special Branch (SB) Inspector Sagar, on receiving specific information about the militants, rushed to Dubbagudem village along with SI, Gangaram, SI, Kothaguda and other staff and nabbed the three persons.

“Based on information provided by them, the police seized 414 live rounds from a dump south of Ramaram-Ponugondla road,” the SP said, adding that the militants were booked under several sections of IPC, Indian Arms Act, APPS Act and ULPA Act. Further investigations are on.

The SP added that the arrested persons had been working for the Maoist party by providing logistic support by staying at their respective villages. “A case was already registered against Poleboina Saraiah in 2006 in Kothaguda police station as he was supplying arms to the Maoists,” the SP said. The trio were trying to resort to some offence as a part of the ongoing ‘Maoist Martyrs Week’. On other hand, the SP said that the Maoists, who fled to Chattisgarh state following the rejection by the people in Telangana, were trying to regain the entry into the State and added that they would thwart their attempts with the support of the people. “I appeal to the people not to support the outlawed CPI Maoists in any manner as they are trying to disturb the peace in the State,” Koti Reddy added.
