Mahabubnagar: Koilsagar project height to be raised

Mahabubnagar: Excise minister V Srinivas Goud has disclosed that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has approved a proposal to raise the height of Koilsagar Project, so that 1 TMC from Karvena reservoir could be delivered to Koilsagar to keep the reservoir brimming with water throughout the year to ensure irrigation and to meet the drinking water needs of the people of Devarkadra and Mahabubnagar assembly constituencies.

On Tuesday, the minister along with Devarkadra MLA A Venkateshwar Reddy has laid the foundation-stone for construction of a checkdam on a local stream lying on the outskirts of Rajamoor village in Devarkadra mandal. Addressing the media persons, MLA A Venkateshwar Reddy has said that with a view to address the drought conditions of Devarkadra constituency, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has agreed to not only raise the height of Koilsagar project, but has also designed Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project in such a way that every month 1 TMC could be delivered to Koilsagar from Karvena reservoir, which was being constructed under PRLIS.

He also said that the idea of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao would help deliver water from Koilsagar to Ramanpadu reservoir located at a distance of 36 km, through Ookachettu Vagu which connects both the reservoirs, so that the entire stream and the lands falling by it could be irrigated and the stream could be brimming with water throughout the year, greatly benefiting the farmers of Devarkadra constituency.
