Hyderabad: A woman was on Friday arrested for killing her 75-year-old mother in Mahabubnagar district after she allegedly refused to pay her money for consuming liquor, police said.

The incident took place around four days ago in Ippaturu village and the accused had kept the septugenarian’s body in a room at their house, they said.

Accused Parvathamma’s brother Narayana had killed their father allegedly over money dispute around five years ago, a police officer said.

Parvathamma (35) used to regularly quarrel with her mother Narsamma demanding her to give her pension money for drinking and a week ago she again quarrelled with her and hit her with a stick resulting in head injuries, Nawabpet Police Station Sub-Inspector A Praveen Kumar said based on a complaint.

Around four days ago, Parvathamma again hit her mother’s head with a stick after she had informed one of their relatives about the last week’s incident, resulting in her death, the SI said.

The woman kept her mother’s body for almost four days in their house and it was only on Thursday, when some neighbours noticed her dragging the body outside the house, the police officer said adding the body was in a decomposed state and partially burnt indicating that she was also set on fire.

“It seems after foul smell emanated from the room, Parvathamma dragged the body,” the SI said.

A case was booked against Parvathamma on murder charge after one of their relatives in a complaint accused her of killing Narsamma for not paying her money for drinking purpose, the police officer added.

She was arrested and produced before a court on Friday.
