Make city roads durable with tech: KTR

At a review meeting on city roads with heads of MA&UD Department, the Minister asked top officials to introduce the concept of incentivising better performing contractors and simultaneously penalising defaulters and debarring them from participating in tenders in future.

Hyderabad: Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) KT Rama Rao directed municipal authorities to use the latest technology for making roads in Hyderabad durable apart from timely maintenance, which will minimise the hardships of commuters.

At a review meeting on city roads with heads of MA&UD Department, the Minister asked top officials to introduce the concept of incentivising better performing contractors and simultaneously penalising defaulters and debarring them from participating in tenders in future.

GHMC Commissioner Dr B Janardhan Reddy directed Chief Engineers of the corporation to prepare a year-long programme for maintaining infrastructure in the city. He advised them to prepare a list of Road Vulnerable Points (RVP), their causes and solutions along with a road map for maintenance of roads, footpaths, table drains, white topping, mechanical desilting etc.
