The older we become, the more awkward it gets to make a new friend, at least for most of us. But, there are always a few ways to break this thick blanket of awkwardness.

Well, this may be old school but it’s a great way to start a conversation. And who doesn’t like being complimented? Just make sure not to overdo it; that would put the other person in an uncomfortable situation.
Reconnect with old friends
If you remember your old friends, maybe from school or your previous work place — drop a message in their inbox. That’s an easy way to connect with them and who knows, they might also introduce you to their circle.
Join a club
Registering for a book club, writer’s club or even a dance class is another easy way to meet new people and make friends. Here, the cherry on top is you get to meet like-minded people. People who share the same interest as you, and so it’s easier to bond too.
A lot of people are sceptical about finding a companion or a friend online but if you are careful, you can actually finds friends. Think about it and only take the step if you are okay with it.
