A group of friends from Hyderabad planned a trip to the backwaters of Sri Ram Sagar which falls near Badguna village in Nizamabad district. And for those nature lovers, this trip truly turned out to be amazing. They witnessed a haven-like scene in the greens and saw many blackbucks, antelopes and migratory birds.
“I belong to Badguna village; my villagers called me the other day and asked me to come down to watch this view of black bucks and migratory birds. So along with my friends, I visited that place,” says Amarendra Rao, an agriculturist who stays in Hyderabad.
Traditionally, the backwaters are used by locals for transport, fishing, and agriculture. “We saw nearly 500 blackbucks, antelopes and migratory birds like flamingos, pelicans, Oriental practical and Indian cursong others — some of them rare,” said Amarendra.
“Black bucks are seen round the year as they graze in the fields and the greenery along the banks of the Godavari River. Their population has increased tremendously in recent times,” says one of the wild life enthusiasts from the group. When asked if the farmers don’t incur loss if the black bucks and antelopes move around, he said: “It’s we who have occupied their place, not them.”
The lush green land’s diverse wildlife, and houses and villages that are close by to the backwaters will definitely make a memorable journey. No wonder the backwaters are one of the must-visit tourist places in Nizamabad district. Don’t miss it!
